Description:

Create art, spread joy, and celebrate reading. Let's chalk up some joy together on the sidewalks of the JLC Library!

Join us throughout May for a celebration of creativity and community as we transform the library's walkways into a vibrant tapestry of art and inspiration. Express yourself by writing encouraging words, drawing vibrant pictures, or playing interactive games—chalk is provided, and everyone is welcome!

May is both National Mental Health Awareness Month and Get Caught Reading Month. This month-long event celebrates these themes by promoting joy, kindness, and the love of reading.

Highlights:

Artistic Expression: Showcase your chalk art skills and spread positivity.
Photo Opportunities: Capture your artwork and share it on social media by tagging @jlewiscrozerlibrary and using the hashtag #ChalkUpChester.
Community Engagement: Enjoy a fun day out with family and friends, connecting with fellow community members and art and library lovers.
All Ages Welcome: This event is designed for everyone, from young children to adults.

Best Practices:

Be Respectful: If you choose to chalk up your own sidewalk, consider your neighbors and others who will see it. Please do not chalk up city or private property without permission.
Remember the Mission: Our goal is to spread joy, kindness, and inspiration. If your message doesn’t align with these values in a clear and simple way, please reconsider.
Keep it Clean: To truly spread joy, ensure your content is suitable for all ages. If a child shouldn’t read or see it, please refrain from creating it.
Have Fun: Play is crucial to our mental and emotional health. Be playful and have fun!
