Delaware County Libraries Receives Grant For eBooks

Thank you to the Library Foundation of Delaware County!

The Library Foundation of Delaware County recently approved grant funding of $56,000 to grow the eBook and audiobook collections available to all Delaware County Libraries’ cardholders.

Requests for eBooks increased by an average of 58% since 2019 in Delaware County. In addition, the county’s smallest libraries saw an almost 120% increase in eBook requests/holds. This grant will enable libraries to expand existing collections.

“We are grateful for the generosity of the Library Foundation of Delaware County in enabling our libraries to purchase eBooks and audiobooks for their collections. We have seen a dramatic increase in the use of these materials and this grant will give patrons access to more titles,” said Catherine Bittle, Director of Delaware County Libraries.

Twenty-three of the Delaware County Libraries member libraries have enrolled in the OverDrive Advantage program as part of this grant. This program allows patrons of purchasing libraries to have priority on the holds list for titles, resulting in shorter wait times.
