Description:

This introduction to mindfulness meditation is intended to meet you where you are. Whether you are brand new to the practice, a returning skeptic, or trying to make a sometime thing into a daily habit, you will be accepted exactly where you are in your journey. Mindfulness trains our minds, which over time, trains our brains. Research shows daily (or near daily) meditation practice can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood and working memory, prevent a relapse of depression, increase emotional intelligence and develop awareness and resilience. Becoming more mindful of staying or returning to the present moment helps move us away from operating on autopilot where automatic thoughts and feelings tend to trigger unhelpful habits of mind and lead us to react in unskillful ways. Mindful awareness helps to disrupt automatic tendencies to create necessary space to choose a different response.

Clayton Platt received the Mindfulness Meditation Teachers Certification from the Greater Good Science Center at Cal Berkely and serves as the President of the not-for-profit Meditation4Leadership which counts among its clients Verizon, Aramark, Ally Financial, AllianceBernstein, and others. He has taught a number of classes for Main Line School Night in Radnor.
