At their public meeting on April 3, Delaware County Council appointed Anny Laepple as the new Director of Delaware County Libraries. She replaces Catherine Bittle who retired in October after serving as Director for seven years.

Laepple has served as Assistant Director and District Consultant for DCL since 2020. In that position, she had numerous accomplishments including working with stakeholders to develop a new strategic plan and bringing renowned speaker Ryan Dowd to the County for a staff workshop. Prior to that, she was the Director of the Radnor Memorial Library for 5 years, where she oversaw a major renovation project, and was Youth Services Manager at the Haverford Township Free Library for 9 years.

“I am honored to be appointed to serve the needs of all Delaware County residents,” said Laepple. “I believe that high quality, equitable library services help our communities thrive and I look forward to working closely with our 26 member libraries to continue to accomplish this every day.”

Laepple is an active member of the Pennsylvania Library Association, serving as an appointee to the Legislative Information Committee and a volunteer on the Annual Conference Planning Committee. Laepple earned a Masters of Library and Information Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Arts in Italian Studies from The George Washington University.

“Ms. Laepple has been integral to the continued success of Library Services,” said Sandra Garrison, Chief of Social Services and Community Programs for Delaware County. “She brings great thought and initiatives to the department, as well as the leadership team for Social Services and Community Programs.” 

Laepple lives in Havertown with her husband and young daughter. She is currently reading Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian for her book club.
