Back to School StoryWalk!

It’s that time of year again! As children across Delaware County are heading back to school, have they ever wondered how dinosaurs go to school? Author Jane Yolen and illustrator Mark Teague bring to the life the energetic and sometimes unruly nature of getting children ready to go to school with playful verses and colorful pictures in our newest StoryWalk book, How Do Dinosaurs Go to School?.

“Back to school time can bring a wide range of emotions—excitement, anxiousness, nervousness—for children and their parents,” said Delaware County Libraries Director Catherine Bittle. “Picking How Do Dinosaurs Go to School? as our newest StoryWalk book will allow children to relate their experiences to dinosaur’s in a humorous way.”

The American Library Association celebrates September as National Library Card Sign-up Month. In an effort to get every resident of Delaware County a library card, staff from Delaware County Libraries will be on hand registering Delaware County residents for library cards. Come out and meet Delco the Dinosaur, check out the new StoryWalk book, and sign-up for a library card!

Children and their parents are invited to stroll along the 18 plexi-glass panel displays posted on a .25-mile circle located behind the Parks and Recreation office, and up the hill from the amphitheater. They can read each colorful page and then walk, skip or run to the next page.

StoryWalk is the creation of Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT. Delaware County’s StoryWalk panels were installed at Rose Tree Park with assistance from students at Williamson College of the Trades. StoryWalk at Rose Tree Park is free and open during park hours. The StoryWalk is geared for children ages 1 to 7.
